A bridge on the waters between italy and turkey: the young talents of the project “cultures and watercarriers”

loc_watercarriers_2012-1Only Italian project co-funded by the European Union and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey for the year 2012, “Cultures and WaterCarriers” has realized an intercultural dialogue through the arts involving Italy, Turkey and Corsica. The project saw the participation of 30 young artists, aged between 18 and 28 years among dancers, musicians, video makers, costume and set designers selected in auditions in Italy and in Turkey. The project lasted fourteen months and ended with a spectacle of dissemination of the results on 16 December 2012 at the Belli Theatre in Rome.

The thirty young artists participating to the project, had been involved in a continuous dialogue and exchange of expertise both at a distance, through the use of social networks, and in the creative workshops that were held in Rome and in Istanbul. The young artists had focused their work on the theme of water as ethical and universal theme and therefore meeting ground among different cultures, creating the show “All the rivers run into the sea that never fills up”.

The show was filled by their creatively path developed in the continuous exchange of experiences and the different artistic and cultural languages. Now that the project has been achieved the ties created by water among young Turkish and Italian artists remain as a creative bridge between East and West.

Project partners for “ Cultures and watercarriers” were Artemis Kultur Sanat Dernegi for Turkey and the Company TeatrEuropa de Cors for France .
